May is going...going...almost gone!

Wow, it's been over a month since we updated our blog!! We've kept quite busy with lots of weekend plans. We bought a tent trailer about a month ago which has 2 full-sized beds and a twin, plus a fridge, sink, and stove. We took it up to the Jones' Trinity Village property and tried it out a few weeks ago! We all slept great and are excited to have a comfortable place to sleep when we camp.
Last weekend, we headed to Graeagle (about 20 min south of Quincy) for an extended weekend with Grandma 'Jean to visit Tom, Patsy, and Kelsey. The kids had a great time fishing, wading in the lakes (too cold for swimming), and hiking. Cody's aunt and uncle hooked us up with a great 3 bedroom vacation home that was close to everything! We had an awesome visit!
It has been a great May for us and we are excited that summer is practically here!! Bring on the camping, weekends at the Trinity River, and a few roadtrips! The Thompsons are ready...

Alauna Update:
Alauna caught two fish over Memorial Weekend with help from Cousin Kelsey. She also had a blast riding around in Uncle Tom's golf cart and really loved the hikes. Alauna amazed us with her willingness to try new foods...she actually liked shrimp, calamari, and trout! She was pretty much the only one of us to get into the icy cold lakes last weekend and was overjoyed by the snow that was still on the mountains!
Next week, Alauna graduates from her first year of preschool and will continue to go two days a week through the summer. In the fall, she will attend the same school, but go four half-days.

Reece Update:
Reece has enjoyed our past two weekends mostly because the majority of our time has been spent outside. He loves running around outdoors and is constantly digging around in the dirt. During our trip, we had to lather the poor guy up with a thick layer of super-sensitive sunscreen because we found that he gets red patches on his face from any chemical based or fragranced sunscreen. The stuff didn't blend in at all, but he was free of any rashes or sunburns!
Reece is practically saying a new word each day, but the amazing thing is just how much he actually understands. Reece can point to most of his body parts and totally understands when we are talking to him (if he wants to listen, that is...) He is still moving at one quick speed during the day and loves playing with his cars and riding on his little trike.

Amber and Cody Update:
We can't stop running...The bug has caught us both and we are not only running 3-4 days a week, we are also entering local races as well. We completed the Avenue of the Giants 10k on May 3rd. Cody got 2nd overall! Amber was just happy to run the entire time and with a pace of under 10 minute miles! The next race we did was the Eureka Waterfront on May 17th, where Cody ran the 4.1 in 30:54 (4th place overall). Amber did the 2 mile in 17:52. We started a running club that meets at our house every Wednesday and are surrounded by runners in our neighborhood! Next month, Amber is signed up for the Atalanta's Victory Women's run which is 5 miles so hopefully the training will pay off! Cody is anticipating a 6 mile race in about a month. The running continues...
